Corsairs of the Archipelago
Corsairs of the Archipelago is a free multiplayer age-of-sail game that runs in your web browser. You command a pirate, privateer or merchant ship in a Caribbean archipelago of nine colonies and nine wild islets, and share the sea with other captains.
What you do
- Sail by wind and weather: ships run fastest with the wind on the beam and crawl straight upwind, and storm cells drift across the islands.
- Fight broadside battles with round shot, chain shot, grapeshot and explosive shells, then board the enemy, plunder her hold and take her as a prize or sign on her crew.
- Trade nine goods between colonies that each produce some cheaply and pay well for others, or run contraband to smugglers on a moonlit beach.
- Go ashore in harbours, cities, jungles and caves: talk to barkeeps, hire officers, take delivery contracts and bounties, borrow from the moneylender and buy pistols and curios.
- Grow from a one-masted tartane to a Man-o-War with 24 guns a side, raise your rank from Deckhand to Admiral, command up to 3 more ships and spend skill points on nine skills.
- Choose a side: England, France, Spain, Holland, or the Brethren of the Coast. Their wars and treaties shift as you play.
Play with friends
Captains are spread over several seas (copies of the archipelago). Everyone who picks the same sea on the login card sails together, and chat, markets, forts and ships are shared. Your captain is saved in your browser, and you can also save it to a file and load it somewhere else.
