Ships
Seven classes of ship sail the archipelago, from the one-masted tartane to the Man-o-War, a floating fortress. Merchants, the navy and pirates sail them all, and any you capture can become yours.

Choosing a ship
- Trading: the Galleon carries the most cargo (900 tons), but she is the slowest to turn after the Man-o-War. The Brig and Frigate balance hold, guns and speed.
- Raiding: the Lugger and Sloop of War are the fastest, ideal for chasing merchants and slipping away from the navy.
- Battle: the Frigate and Man-o-War bring the heaviest broadsides, and shells and grapeshot make short work of the rest.
Where to buy: only some ports build every class. See ports and trade for each shipyard's stock.
